Spiderman of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Tom Holland is reunited with two of the studio’s most prominent directors, Joe and Anthony, the Russo brothers. Previously they have worked in Marvel superhero movies like Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame. Although the same franchise, the new set up is going to be pretty complicated yet mature!
Cherry, the upcoming movie, is based on the debut novel of Nico Walker. The story talks about an opioid addict bank robber who previously used to be an Army medic. He returned from a tour of Duty Iraq carrying an undiagnosed post-traumatic stress disorder. Joe admitted his deep emotions as a story review.
“It’s a story about drug addiction and the opioid crisis. It’s touched us both; it’s a deeply personal movie for us. The gent who wrote the book went through the same growth arc in the same part of the city we grew up in — but different experiences.”
Struggling with the life-changing effects of war, the dangerous world of opioids sucked him inside and left him with a suppressed mental disorder. Gradually with time, the support his drug habits, he went along the wrong path. Anthony stated,
“It’s a complicated and mature movie. It doesn’t have the [same] surface-level entertainment as Marvel films, but these are stories that need to be told, and Joe and I are in that position to get these stories made.”
Not just for the Russo Brothers but also it will be an amazing opportunity for Tom Holland to present himself in an absolutely different role. The lead role of Cherry will drastically change in the career road of Tom Holland due to the huge variance from his previous role. No doubt the character Peter Parker has shone over the MCU fans due to the incredible performance of Tom Holland as Spiderman.
What else is he capable of?
Some live-action, maybe! At San Diego Comic-Con back in July, the directing brothers revealed the panel being the HN Entertainment. This R-rated movie is scheduled to begin filming in October. We will know if walking in the chaos is really his thing!
