Tom Holland Discusses Plans for “Spider-Man 4”

-

Tom Holland, the British actor who has become a global sensation as Marvel’s beloved hero, has already starred in three “Spider-Man” films and is keen on returning for a fourth installment. He’s been involved in the project from its early stages.

Having gained worldwide fame through his role as Spider-Man, the 27-year-old actor cherishes the character deeply. After three solo “Spider-Man” films and numerous appearances as the Marvel superhero, Holland is eager to return to the big screen as Peter Parker and has been actively participating in the development of the new material.

Tom Holland is Committed to ‘Doing the Right Thing’

When asked about his future projects and a potential return as Spider-Man, Holland shared with the industry outlet “Deadline” how important the role is to him. “The simple answer is that I will always want to make ‘Spider-Man’ movies. […] Yes, I will always want to do more,” the British actor expressed. He credits the character with having shaped his life and career.

However, the “complicated answer,” he noted, is that the team must approach the material cautiously to avoid repetition. “The best in the business,” according to Holland, are working on crafting some kind of story. Yet, until the right approach is identified, “we need to protect a legacy.” The third film was so unique that everyone involved must ensure “that we’re doing the right thing.”

This is the first time Holland has been involved so early in the creative process after “Spider-Man: Homecoming,” “Spider-Man: Far From Home,” and “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” he explained. He’s observing and learning. “It’s a really fun phase for me. As I said, everyone wants it to happen. But we want to make sure we’re not just doing more of the same.”

“Spider-Man 4” is clearly still in the very early stages of development. Given the enormous success of the previous films, it’s no surprise that there is a desire to continue the story. “Spider-Man: No Way Home” had one of the best U.S. opening weekends ever at the end of 2021, raking in about $260 million in its first weekend alone.
