The Trump White House, Since the beginning of his term, has been in disarray. Consistent use of twitter to announce his update on foreign policy to take a personal dig at political enemies, President Trump is on the verge of forcing the country into a constitutional crisis. The recent few days have been harder than ever for President Trump with House intelligence committee launching an investigation against him.
The charges made by the Whistle Blower is regarding a phone call made by the President on the 25th of July. President Trump spoke to the Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelinski and persuaded Zelinski into opening an investigation against his political rival Joe Biden’s Son, Hunter Biden.
However, someone in our generation is familiar with Impeachment proceedings and was the key reason as to why one of the strongest men had to go through an embarrassing moment in history. Monica Lewinsky was one of the most popular names during the 1999’s as this White House intern was enough to bring Bill Clinton’s Presidency down by herself. The President was accused of having an alleged affair with Monica. Even though Clinton came out denying all the charges made against him, He was impeached by the house of representatives but was not removed from office.
However, Monica Lewinsky shared her insight on the impeachment proceedings; she said, “Impeachment is a constitutional crisis, so obviously it’s much bigger than me, but am I affected personally? Sure, of course,” and she even went and talked about how she was being bullied during the impeachment, “People are making comparisons to when Bill Clinton was impeached. I’ve become a punchline of a joke a little bit more than normal. I found myself the last few weeks — I’m certainly more sensitive,” she said. “Some people in my world might say cranky. Needed more self-care. The truth is, if we’re talking seriously about impeachment, it actually means we’re all affected in the country.”
Lewinsky utilized the platform to promote awareness within the youth about bullying and even talked about President’s erratic behavior and continued “I worry that because of the behavior we are seeing come out of D.C. these days, that hate speech, cyberbullying and online harassment are not only being modeled for our young people but that the frequency and level of vitriol becoming the norm.”
