Metallica’s Munich Concerts: Everything You Need to Know About Tickets, Opening Acts, and More

Munich – This weekend, rock and metal fans in Munich are in for a treat: Metallica will be performing at the Olympiastadion on Friday, May 24, and Sunday, May 26, as part of their “M72 World Tour.” Alongside these two concerts, which mark the beginning of the open-air season, there will be a variety of events in the city celebrating the world-renowned band.

One unique aspect of these concerts is that each show will feature completely different setlists and opening acts. On Friday, Metallica will be supported by Architects and Mammoth WVH, while on Sunday, Five Finger Death Punch and Ice Nine Kills will take the stage before the main event. This was announced by the organizer, Live Nation. Another new feature is the relocation of the famous Metallica Snake Pit, a special standing area, to the center of the stage.

Tickets for the concerts are still available through Münchenticket and Ticketmaster. As of Tuesday, May 21, at 5 PM, tickets on Münchenticket cost 209 euros per person. Ticketmaster offers tickets ranging from 119 euros (seating) to 238.60 euros (standing in the inner area). Additionally, platinum tickets (priced between 449 and 750 euros) and Snake Pit tickets (641.10 euros) are available according to the website. There are also resale tickets, meaning purchased tickets resold by their original buyers, with prices varying between 92 and 619.84 euros.

Pop-Up Shop, “Weekend Bash” at Backstage, and More Metallica-Themed Events in Munich

“You’re familiar with the Metallica family… When the band is in town for more than a day, we have to make a weekend out of it,” Metallica announces on their website for Munich. Indeed, there is a five-day program surrounding the concerts, starting tomorrow, Wednesday, May 22. Each day, a pop-up shop at Studio Balan, Moosacher Straße 86, will offer tour merchandise and other exclusive items, such as special vinyl records and band posters.

From Thursday, May 23, to Sunday, May 26, a “Weekend Bash” will take place at Backstage, Reitknechtstraße 6, featuring different activities each day. Events include a “Beerathlon” (a three-kilometer beer crate run), a “Headbanger Workout,” a Weißwurst breakfast, a Metallica tribute show, and after-parties following the concerts. Additionally, on Saturday, May 25, the Alte Kongresshalle, Am Bavariapark 14, will host a book reading with photographer Ross Halfin at 12:30 PM and a Metallica film festival at 4:30 PM. Tickets for these events are also still available.
