Dwayne Johnson has been a part of the Fast & Furious franchise from the 5th part of the original series. But when confronted with the question if we will see him in the upcoming Fast & Furious 9, he left us with a negative answer. After the spin-off movie Hobbs and Shaw, things weren’t going pretty well anyway. The Rock of the ring simply denied being a part of Fast & Furious 9. He wanted the franchise to expand, and it might happen without his participation.
“The plan has always been for the Fast and Furious universe to grow and expand. As of now, we’re not in Fast 9 because they’re getting ready to start shooting. But who knows with Fast 10 down the road, you never know. Because, look, at the end of the day, the truth is there’s unfinished business between Hobbs and Dom. It’s unfinished.”
It is quite surprising, but we can clearly understand the reason for being Hobbs & Shaw. Anyway, Vin Diesel and Rock are supposed to wrap up in Fast & Furious 10.
Some speculations say we might not see Vin and Dwayne together ever again. Even if that sets the fact, they can easily shoot a movie not being in the same scene with quite an ease.
The tricky part is the defeat of one to the other. Rock is one of the most important characters of theses turbo-charged series. Now having an unpleasant equation off-screen has affected the decisions of Vin Diesel on considering John Cena as a replacement.
The feud between Diesel and Johnson started way back during the eighth installment, but the scenario maybe something else as well. Fast and Furious 9 is arriving only a year after Hobbs and Shaw come out. Johnson has a lot of projects on his plate, for say, Black Adam; he may simply not have time to play Hobbs back-to-back.
Let’s not place anything on stone; he might surprise us if schedule fits in. If survival of The Fast and the Furious series was possible without Vin Diesel, it might gear up without Dwayne Johnson as well!
