Despite the success of the first installment and the eagerness of millions to see Robert Pattinson don the bat suit again, wandering through the shadows of Gotham City, it seems we’ll have to wait a bit longer to see it happen. That’s right: Warner Bros. has pushed back the release date of The Batman: Part II by a year, its official title now set for a later debut.
Michael Keaton was the quintessential Batman through to the 2000s, and the first from the Warner Bros. franchise, who then passed the baton to Val Kilmer and then to the most memorable of recent times: Christian Bale, who played the role from 2005 to 2012. He was succeeded by Ben Affleck, who stepped down from the role a few years ago, until a fantastic Robert Pattinson took over with the darkest version of the superhero yet.
The star of the Twilight saga plays the famed caped crusader in The Batman (2022), the latest Warner Bros. movie about the character, written and directed by Matt Reeves. This production was a massive success, evidenced by its box office gross of over $770 million and the excellent scores on Rotten Tomatoes, where it holds an 85% and 87% positive rating from professional critics and the audience, respectively.

Therefore, it’s no surprise that both superhero fans and movie lovers alike were eagerly awaiting the sequel. Unfortunately, they will have to come to terms with the fact that The Batman 2 will not be released on October 3, 2025, as initially planned, but exactly a year later: October 2, 2026, as announced by Warner Bros. film studio.
DC experts, the comic book publisher behind the Batman character, say the delay is related to last year’s Hollywood strikes, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter. In any case, the only reality for viewers, as of today, is that we won’t see Robert Pattinson as Batman until almost five years after the original film.
However, this hasn’t been the only significant change Warner Bros. has made to its release schedule, moving the new Paul Thomas Anderson movie with Leo DiCaprio to August 8, 2025, among other titles. Perhaps, the most “amusing” switch is Maggie Gyllenhaal’s Bride of Frankenstein starring former Batman Christian Bale, which will take over the original date of The Batman 2 and premiere on October 3, 2025.
